Episode XXVIII: Frontline

I was going to write an apology for my lack of writing in this journal, but I then realized that I’m the only one who reads and writes in this book. Sometimes I think that people are reading what I’m writing, but I highly doubt that this is the case, unless it is Jeff. Damn, I miss that son of a bitch, as much of an asshole he is. Facing Joseph Winshire in person must be one of the most soul-rending experiences one could imagine. His only conviction was the slaying of those bloodknights that attacked us in the bathroom that time.

Speaking of the matter, I don’t know why I have not questioned how I was able to simply kill a bloodknight with just one lucky strike. Usually, the zalgo corruption would not be penetrable that easily, especially against a simple, sharp piece of metal. Could I not know my own strength? Life as an unafflicted child growing up in Creepyville was tough, however.

Perhaps he just fell into a minor healing coma. It is really the only explanation that is available. Why would Lord Zalgo make his soldiers so vulnerable? If they were as weak as that, the proxies should have won The Creepyville Civil War.

Well interesting news came from the Forest Territory Front.
The Hand of Zalgo organized a strike invasion to set up a tactical headquarters near the Darkwood University Sentries to gain a foothold for the assault. A day later, they made their march into the forest, corrupting the land or burning any living entity, including foliage, which was of proxy control. After a day of pushing the front, Joseph Winshire’s forces finally met proxy opposition in the form of an army. Not just a guerrilla strike force, but a fucking army of proxy soldiers, standing ready to meet the zalgo forces.

At the moment, it appears that it is still a stalemate, but I think the only way that the zalgo forces can succeed is in organizing a full strength offensive while his current frontline continues to suppress the main proxy units. This is of course keeping in mind that his invasion force is larger than the proxy count. If Joseph can hold a defensive strategy until he can organize the push, he would be victorious. However, judging from his command during The Creepyville Civil War, he would not last half a day with a defensive front.

I do find it odd that the proxy forces are not using a guerilla warfare strategy like they mostly do. Slenderman’s agents are experts in assassination and selective killing. Why would they organize an army of foot soldiers to defend the forest against the hordes of Lord Zalgo? There must be a completely new commander leading the defense.

Another question remains: why would the proxies knowingly fight head-to-head against the zalgo horde? The proxy fighting force is not as enduring or powerful as the mighty bloodknights and not as wrathful as the bloodmages. I still have a hard time imagining proxies as the warrior-kind.

I’m very curious to see how the battle concludes, and I will be monitoring various feed headlines.

As I walk the halls, I don’t know why, but I feel so depressed just taking each step. Maybe the other students’ sadness over the massacre is contagious, and that is why is still lingers. Perhaps it is the massive guilt I have to suffer over my friend’s death. Alternatively, I could feel partially responsible for the subduing of Jeff.

I see Jane every now and then through the halls, but I only give her a faint nod, which she returns as well. I’m very certain she doesn’t want to talk right now anyways. As I look into her mask, I feel the imprisoned emotions she hides. I feel that our trip to the outskirts of Creepyville did nothing to soothe her emotional suffering. I wish I could do something to help her at this moment.

Fuck this earth. I want to know what the world was like before Lord Zalgo invaded. I’ve read that the land was lush and bountiful with vegetation, similar to the Forest Territory. I sometimes ponder what life would be life if I had the throne as Hand of Zalgo. Perhaps instead of basking in my power, I could actually use it to make this world better for its people. Sometimes I think that if I had such power, I could stop pain and suffering. On rare occasions, such as last night, I wonder if I could have the power to stop people from dying: if I could give others the power of immortality.

I basically just go to class for a minute for attendance and then leave to go to the library. I don’t even know if the masters take note of a student’s attendance, but I just go anyways for some reason that I have still yet to figure out. I guess it’s because most of the knowledge I can acquire from classes, I can teach myself through books in the library. I think I’m even ahead on my curriculum.

I think tomorrow I’m just going to go to class just to see if the masters are teaching anything different from what I’ve learned thus far. In case I get bored, I’m going to try and steal a novel from the library.
